This last week has been quite busy, and I'm realizing the time commitment for this school is a bit more than what I originally anticipated. However, I am fully enjoying being a part of the classes and Ethan is doing wonderfully with the girls, so I really have nothing to complain about.
The great thing about staffing a school is that I get to look over and grade our students assignments every week. Along with their notes and research on their topic of choice, I also get to see what God has been speaking to them during our worship/intercession times (this is one of the required items in their homework each week). One of the girls got a great picture during one of our intercession times, so I wanted to share it here, in her own words:
I had a picture of God with His arms wrapped around a little abused girl who was standing in a corner crying. He had his arms wrapped around her. It was almost as if He was a ghost ‘cause she didn’t know he was there. He turned to scream over his shoulder, “Can I get some help over here?” It reminded me of someone who had just been injured severely and the first ‘rescuer’ is yelling for back up. But God was there alone and no one was answering his call to be His arms around the girl, to rescue her.
Sometimes I pray as if I'm trying to get God to move - with an urgency and frustration that could mislead a listener into thinking I'm trying to convince God to do something he has no interest in doing. What a grave misunderstanding that is! It is not God who needs to be convinced, it is us! We are the ones whose reluctance to respond leaves the world wondering where God is. On the flipside, it is also our response which may be the goodness of God revealed to others.
"Don't you realize that it is God's kindness which leads us to repentance?" Romans 2:4
