I found this quote on a random piece of paper of mine - sorry I don't know where I read it, but it's worth sharing here:
"Discipline" is directed at the objectionable behavior, and the child will accept the consequence without resentment. "Punishment" is a response that is directed at the individual. It represents the desire of one person to hurt another; it is an expression of hostility rather than directive love. As such, it is often deeply resented by the child.
Good thing to remember when parenting children. It's good to remember that God is a good parent, and his discipline is rooted in love towards people, not a desire to bring harm.
