A few years ago we flew to Hawaii to help staff a school with YWAM. While there, we visited a beach where several baby man-of-war had washed ashore. We warned the girls not to touch them, but Rosalina found one and picked it up before we could stop her.
Immediately she started crying and ran toward me. Before I could figure out what had happened, she grabbed my leg and wiped the stinging jelly stuff on my leg and MAN! Did that hurt! My leg turned red and puffy with welts and it felt like someone jabbed my knee with a hundred needles of fire: it was horrible! I felt sad to see her crying, but when she touched my leg, I felt her pain and felt worse because I knew how bad she was hurting!
Today, I remembered that story and it made me think of God. Some people think God doesn't get what it's like to be human, but He does. He put on a flesh robe and felt OUR pain: all our hurts, our grief, our brokenness was laid on Him. He was fully human and experienced the full spectrum of human emotion. He understands us because He walked a mile in our shoes.
Isn't that a Savior worth loving?
Isn't that a Savior worth loving?
I think so.
